Berdyansk is a port city in the south-central Ukraine. It is situated on the coast of the Sea of Azov.
Berdyansk was founded in 1827. The first name of the city was Kutur-Ogly, in 1830 it was changed to Novo-Nogaisk and in 1842 Berdyansk was given its present name.
The main sights of Berdyansk are the Museum of Natural Sciences, Museums of Arts, the Museum of City History (opened in 2005).
The city is also a health resort with climatic treatment and mud-baths.
