Gurzuf is a small town on the southern coast of the Black Sea. It is a climatic resort. Gurzuf is protected from cool winds by the semiring of mountains. From the east there is Medved-gora (Bear Mountain), a beautiful mountain with an interesting legend, one of the symbols of Crimea.

This land keeps in memory cultures of different people. The Bear Mountain (Ayu-Dag) used to be the site of primitive people of more than 30 thousands years old. It has remains of ancient sanctuaries, Gothic temples, Byzantine fortresses, Genoese and Turkish buildings.Twin rocks Aydalary are the romantic symbol of Gurzuf. They are situated in a picturesque place in the sea, in front of the world famous children summer camp “Artek”, 200-300 meters from the shore.“The House of Rishelie” was built in 1811. In 1820 great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin lived here for three weeks. Nowadays this building is Pushkin’s museum. Cliff above the sea and grotto had been named after Pushkin.The streets of old part of Gurzuf are narrow, with lots of steps. Picturesque buildings and yards, beautiful small streets often give inspiration to artists, which can be often seen there. On the territory of “Artek” is situated Cypresses Park, a monument of landscape art. It was created in the beginning of XX century and occupies 9 hectares. There are more than 180 sorts of plants there. And, of course, there are lots of cypresses of different kinds.
