Livadia is situated on the north-eastern bottom of the mountain Mogabi. The name of this place means “meadow” in Greek.
The most famous place in Livadia is Great Livadia Palace (White Palace). It was built in Italian Renaissance style using Gothic elements and Eastern architecture. Marble lions at the main entrance remind ancient Egypt sphinxes. In February 1945 in Livadia Palace was held the meeting of the heads of government of USSR, USA and Great Britain.Livadia Park is one of the best at the southern coast of Crimea. There are many rare plants here: centenary sequoias, silver Atlantic cedars, stone pines, yews etc.
Beaches are small pebbled, wide and comfortable. There are many cafes and shops, post office and fruit market.On surrounding mountainsides famous Livadian vineyards are situated. Here grows sorts of grapes of a very high quality that are being used for the wine production.
